Medical Visualisation Engineer

Location: Belfast

Axial3D is transforming patient care with enhanced 3D medical imaging. We make 3D printing accessible to the entire healthcare sector by leveraging machine learning. Clinicians globally trust Axial3D to deliver personalized anatomical insights with our innovative software and expert services. Axial3D is powered by talented, passionate and ambitious people with a diverse range of backgrounds across science, technology, and business and we are looking for awesome Medical Visualisation Engineers.

We are looking for part-time engineers to help with the creation of medical models and machine learning data. We are looking for driven individuals to work between 12-24 hours per week with Axial3D in our rapidly scaling team. We can provide a flexible working environment and hours, ideal for work/life balance and fitting around personal commitments. Contracts will typically be for a 6 month fixed term but may be extended further depending on workload.

Your tasks are likely to include:

  • Post-processing of medical 3D printed models
  • Quality control and packaging
  • 3D printer utilization & maintaining 3D print farm
  • Medical data collection and organization
  • Medical image segmentation

The following skills are likely to help you do well in the role:

  • A degree or currently studying for a degree in (but not exclusively) Biomedical Engineering, Radiology, Biomedical Science, Medicine or Anatomy
  • Knowledge of the different 3D printing technologies and their uses
  • Knowledge of biomedical physics relating to CT & MRI scanning
  • CAD/design

Your team:

You will join a small but growing team of engineers and researchers who are developing a web-based platform to take medical images and process them for 3D printing. Your team will be from a range of different backgrounds and you will work closely with our manufacturing engineers as well as business development to deliver our products.

Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Location: Belfast

We are looking for an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to come on to accelerate the development of our automated software, making medical 3D printing available to clinicians globally. The ideal candidate will have several years of demonstrable experience in the delivery of machine learning-based product development.

Your tasks are likely to include:

– Using deep learning, machine learning to develop image processing algorithms

– Managing complex data and communicating potential solutions to a wide audience

– Developing scalable processes for model development, benchmarking and validation through to implementation and production deployment

– Being creative and apply critical thinking to design algorithms that address a business challenge

– Deploying Linux/serverless based software solutions to the cloud (AWS)

The following skills are likely to help you do well in the role:

– A degree and possibly a PhD in one applied mathematics, applied physics, computer science or biomedical engineering or equivalent industrial research experience

– Experience in implementation with Python (solid knowledge of common frameworks is required e.g. NumPy, SciPy, Pandas)

– Machine Learning/Deep Learning tools (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, Theano)

– Image processing/computer vision tools (scikit-image, OpenCV, ImageJ)
